Meet our new Collaborator and Adviser – Roger Steare
The end of the year might be drawing ever nearer but we are showing no signs of slowing down just yet at PeopleClear. In fact, we are expanding our team once again and are delighted to welcome Roger Steare as a collaborator and adviser to PeopleClear.
Roger’s unique blend of philosophy, anthropology, psychology, and practical business acumen has helped thousands of leaders make pragmatic ethical decisions that drive long-term success. He has worked with industry giants like Barclays, BP, HSBC, Nationwide Building Society, and Openreach to transform their leadership ethos and cultures. He is also an Associate Professor at Headspring Executive Development – a joint venture between the Financial Times and the Top 10 ranked IE Business School in Madrid and has worked as a “professor-in-practice” at Bayes Business School, Duke Corporate Education, and London Business School.
Roger’s unique expertise in the areas of ethics and culture, as well as AI and values based leadership, will link in well with PeopleClear’s focus on culture in financial services. Andrew Pullman, CEO, said “I have known and worked with Roger for over 20 years. When I was at Dresdner Kleinwort, we invited Roger to provide ethics and integrity workshops to all our Managing Directors and Directors across the Capital Markets business – how he managed to keep a room full of grizzled markets people transfixed and engaged for 2 hours at a time was amazing! Now, with the focus on Non Financial Misconduct amidst a market place of continual change we are delighted that Roger has joined our team.”
Roger Steare said, “I am delighted to be working once again with Andrew Pullman and with the PeopleClear team. Whilst the Non Financial Misconduct may feel like yet another regulatory burden to some, doing the right thing and acting with integrity is the cornerstone of any prosperous and sustainable business.”
Roger’s recent blog post on Zombie Leadership explored how businesses cling on to old ideas of leadership and how we can debunk these to move forward. Another recent blog explored whether bullying in the workplace should be a criminal offence and how behaviours and coercive control which would not be accepted elsewhere are often overlooked, ignore and/or dismissed when we see them in the workplace.
As the focus on Non Financial Misconduct continues to push forward a culture change in financial firms which, although welcome, can be tricky to navigate we are delighted to have Roger on board and gain the benefit of his experience and thoughtful approach. A recent article in the Financial Times highlights how we are seeing a rise in bullying and harassment claims across the city, with the Financial Conduct Authority attributing this to a new willingness to bring these incidents to light.
We look forward to working with Roger, and our clients, to improve culture within organisations and offer leading edge thinking and practical ways to support the business effectively including our technology solution, PeopleClear SMCR.
